Toddler temper tantrums start from 18 months old and are a normal phase in childhood. Children at this age want to express themselves but are not able to. However, as a child gets older, 3-4 years old, the temper tantrums shift to a power struggle.
Its time we openly speak about intentionally raising Men!
A happy, strong and independent man is raised in an intentional way. I know we have many people talking about the girl child and the feminist movement but I want us on this blog to balance the attention and give the boy child attention, love and intentional parenting.
Have you ever looked at your child and poured yourself a glass of wine? Have you been so proud of yourself as a parent, you literally went out to treat yourself? This summer break I have had a few of those moments. Raising independent, happy and respectful children is not easy. It has been emotionally involving to get my children to where they are now. You see at their age, I can comfortably go anywhere with my children without fear of them misbehaving, destroying people’s property, or just being rude.
As we explore more on dyslexia, it is important to remember, that it is NOT a disability. It is merely a creative way of learning for the child. In our society, we have many successful women and men who live with it and have gone above and beyond their wildest dreams.

For the rest of this year, it is important to keep the children busy. I know it is easy to revert to academic work but I am a firm believer in using this time to expose, build, and encourage skills in our children.
It is time we intentionally teach our children appropriate behavior in our homes and in public. It is time to teach them respectful behavior and communication. We need to give them an appropriate definition of respect.
